TRPC is instrumental in supporting rural TRANSIT, a zero-fare service connecting smaller communities such as Tumwater, Rochester, Tenino, Bucoda, Rainier, Yelm, Grand Mound, Centralia, and the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation. Through this work, TRPC helps these communities access larger systems like Intercity Transit, Lewis County Transit, and Grays Harbor Transit, expanding opportunity for employment, healthcare, and education.
Beyond planning and coordination, TRPC enhances the rider experience through tools like real-time bus tracking and accessible trip planning resources. Their outreach programs, including public engagement initiatives and informational campaigns, ensure that community voices—particularly those of seniors, riders with disabilities, and low-income residents—inform transit improvements.
Through strategic planning, advocacy, and direct support of regional transit services, Thurston Regional Planning Council strengthens mobility, promotes equity, and connects communities that might otherwise have limited transportation options.
