Travel training is an important part of improving the mobility of people within our transportation system. Teaching the community not only about what services are available, but how to utilize those services will enable the public transportation system to continue to grow. By implementing creative approaches to travel training, we can reach more people where they are and help them feel comfortable using public transportation.

The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG) Mobility Management Program has implemented videos, toolkits, and activity books into its travel training program in an effort to reach more people in the community. These strategies are designed to increase the knowledge of and encourage the use of public transportation.

This session will go over these strategies implemented through the CWCOG Mobility Management Program, the impact they’ve had in the region, and what future strategies are planned.

Session: Weds, April 17 @ 11:00 AM

Every community has unique transportation needs and ways to address the needs. When mobility management and travel training staff from multiple transportation providers collaborate, it allows many issues to be addressed regionally including marketing, training, and interagency coordination.

The coordination and communication between public transportation providers can increase awareness of available services and help to educate human service agencies about available services. Strategies like maintaining a directory of services and regular meetings of transportation providers help increase understanding of how the public transportation system works to get people where they need to go, whether across town or across the state.

This session will go over the coordination strategies implemented through the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG) Mobility Management Program and the impacts those have made on the region.
