Daeveene May

Daeveene May is a dedicated Special Needs Transportation Manager that works at Pierce County Human Services. I was born in Tacoma, Washington. I started my logistics journey while serving 21 years in the military ensuring goods and equipment safely, efficient and on time in the US Army. Some of my duty station and combat areas consist of:

· Germany 3 times

· Fort Benning, Georgia

· Fort Wainwright, Alaska

· Fort Drum, New York

· Fort Knox, Kentucky

· Somalia

· Bosnia

· Afghanistan

· Israel

Daeveene successfully transitioned to work at Pierce County Human Services in 2014 where he currently works in the Community Development Division. His roles in Human Services consist of contract manager in the Developmental Disability section, Beyond the Borders program supervisor, Special Needs Mobility Manager, and Pierce County Coordinated Transportation Coalition facilitator. Daeveene closely works with community leaders, transportation service providers, Pierce Transit, school districts, senior centers, Adult Employment providers, medical case managers, other Puget Sound coalitions and other community partners to create transportation solutions that are not only reliable but also sustainable. His expertise spans from community engagement, compliance with transportation regulations, and streamlining processes.

Beyond the technical side, Daeveene is passionate about serving the vulnerable population and fostering a culture of community, safety, reliable services. He brings calm leadership and a levelheaded problem-solving mindset. Daeveene has coached selected and recreational soccer for last 15 years in Washington state mentoring our youth.

Today, Daeveene join us to share insights on the Peninsula Transit Pilot program established on the Key Peninsula in Pierce County how transportation planning pilot project has shaped this community’s growth. The project started on December 1, 2025 and will end approximately December 2026. The County is hoping to receive more funding to extend service out longer.
